Where to begin ...

It is hard to believe that 2016 is more than half over. (Is it being optimistic to say it's been half full?) As always, there are too many good things to share, but here are some highlights for the four of us:
David practica su español
SEED partners will hear more about the Latin America Leaders Cumbre David recently attended, but we thought Brewer friends would be interested in some of the personal sides of this trip. First, can anyone explain why, to go due south from Indianapolis to Medellín, Colombia, David had to go through New York and Atlanta? Second, those two years of high school Spanish were not sufficient to speak to and understand everyone on the trip, but as the week wore on, more and more came back. In fact, for the closing session, David skipped having a translator! And third, one of the great joys of the work we are blessed to do is meeting amazing people doing amazing work. The picture above shows leaders from nine countries in Latin America; over the course of a week, David got to know almost all of them from one-on-one conversations. (He confesses that, being an introvert, spending all of his time with people speaking another language does get a bit draining -- but it's also energizing to think of the people and the potential results.) And, of course, the food!

Rose's college best friend Geetha (second from left) finished medical school rotations in June, and we were blessed to celebrate with her and husband Darshan.
Rose: speaking, working, home creating
Rose had a very busy spring speaking at: retreats; lunches, brunches, and teas; and churches. Despite all the traveling, preparing, and presenting, she has helped moved projects forward (and gotten more projects lined up to plow through) for SEED. Progress at work and at home has been slower than she'd like but steady. She got unanimous family approval on some amazing paint colors; tracked down Amish craftspersons to make bookcases for the living room; found some thrift-store bookcases for the downstairs; painted our entryway bench a delicious turquoise; and started putting up our home décor items. It's starting to feel like home -- come see us!

Lego my Zephaniah
Our 14-year old continues to learn, grow, and be a joy. He keeps discovering new book series (thanks to Kyle Sussenbach for the recommendation on Brandon Sanderson!) and games -- 7 Wonders is his latest favorite. He concluded a very successful first season on his Ultimate Frisbee team, and he studied hard for National Bible Quiz Finals two weeks ago. He recently earned a plaque for memorizing 40 quotes from the book of Acts! One of his highlights this spring was going to BrickWorld, a Lego exhibition where people had built some amazing structures, like this scale model of the USS Missouri -- over 25 feet long!

President Jakobi

It is election season in the US, and Jakobi got into the swing of things by running for president of his class. You can see his campaign poster below, showing a keen awareness of how politics works: he promised voters a free cookie (without explaining where said cookie would come from) and that they would be happy. He won the election, of course. :) We never could get out of him what his responsibilities were. He made good progress in school this year. He has also helped us all make more friends in our neighborhood by finding playmates, one of his strongest and best gifts. This kid is pure joy and smiles!

 THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP!
Thank you so much to all of you who already support us through prayer and through annual, monthly, quarterly, or one-time gifts. We know that we are all blessed to be a blessing, so we are glad to receive the blessings that you give and to pass them on!

God has brought several new supporters our way over these past few months -- very exciting! We could still use a few more supporters. Whether you currently support us, we ask if you would you consider:

*Starting or increasing monthly giving

*Contributing a one-time gift

*Sharing this opportunity with your church or with others you know who have a passion for economic justice and sustainable livelihood?

Alternatively, you could donate to support SEED's travel expenses: we plan to have one of us visit livelihood groups a couple of times each year, and those expenses are outside the regular SEED budget. Would you help us get to Africa, Asia, Europe, or Latin America this year?

Much love from all of us,
Rose, David, Zephaniah and Jakobi Brewer

PRAISES AND PRAYER REQUESTS

Praise for everything that went smoothly with our home purchase and settling in process. We're ready to receive guests any time!
Praise for a (mostly smooth) transition to a new inventory and accounting system
Praise for Zephaniah (Herron High School) and Jakobi (The Oaks Academy) all set to go to great schools that will be a great fit for them this fall

Pray for strength and guidance in our strategic partnerships for SEED's growth.
Pray for wisdom in the number and type of activities for the boys.
Pray for additional monthly financial supporters
