Relief, Development, and Self-Sufficiency
One of our favorite books at SEED is When Helping Hurtsby Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert. Recently I was reminded of one of the key principles in this book: The authors say that 90 percent of the church's charitable work should be focused on development ... Read More

A big note of thanks!

As we travel around the US and the world, we are constantly thankful for all the people who partner with us through hosting us in their homes, loaning us vehicles, treating us to meals, and the like. There are too many to mention, but it's a great reminder that SEED is a team effort and there are many on the team -- like you! Thanks to all of you who generously open your homes and lives to host SEED staff and Champions. You are changing the world for livelihood groups, for us ... and for those who learn about SEED because of you!

SEED Capital -- India

SEED has worked with the India Free Methodist Church for several years, underwriting the costs for women to attend sewing training. Bishop John Gollapalli recently wrote, "20 ladies joined the training and 19 of them successfully completed. They are excited and already started their sewing business. Four of them purchased machines and set up their own shops; the others are too poor to buy and are working for others for little income comparing to those who own a machines." Would you help us buy machines for the other 15 recent graduates? It can make a tremendous difference.
Can you say new tees?

Our "Growing local livelihoods through global partnerships" shirt design (top right) quickly became a favorite not just with SEED fans, but with fans of cool infographics and design. Our favorite designer Nicole
has outdone herself with the new shirt design (bottom right) for "micro-enterprise that makes sense." The front features just the SEED logo, while the back includes icons for some of the many types of businesses SEED has helped launch over the past few years: gardens, sewing, pigs, food carts, and more. (We couldn't fit them all on here, so the last icon is an ellipsis!) These crewneck shirts come in a terrific red and a deep navy and are made by women in India rescued from human trafficking, through Freeset. Order for yourself and for a friend here! Shirts will soon be available at fall events including a SEED partner group product table (see schedule here).

What are we celebrating this month?  Every month, we compare our product sales and donation figures to those of the previous year. This year we have been wondering how our numbers would match up. After all, in 2015 there were two huge events (Come to the Water and General Conference) that wouldn't be happening this year. We are celebrating because our sales through July are ahead of last year's pace, even without those two large events. Praise God with us and pray for a strong finish to 2016!
