A quarterly prayer-focused note for SEED and livelihood groups.
Main prayer focus
The nature of the groups we work with -- often highly skilled but marginalized in their own communities due to gender, disease, tribe, or other things out of their control -- means that there are often great daily struggles. Sometimes, those struggles go to a whole new level. The Faraja Widows are facing just such a challenge right now. We can't share all the details, but please pray for:
  • the leaders of the group, to have hearts attuned to God's Spirit
  • the members of the group, for continued comfort (faraja means comfort in Swahili) and perseverance in the face of trials
  • more and more prayer and business partners in Kenya and internationally
We know SEED tables usually have more female customers, but men love them, too!
SEED in the US
Having just finished a very busy summer, we are excited for an even fuller fall and winter! Many churches have missions and Christmas events featuring SEED; many individuals host trunk shows or place orders; and there are many conferences and retreats that request SEED's presence. Please pray for:
  • events and trunk shows to sell many products -- and collect SEED Capital investments -- for livelihood groups
  • wisdom in calendar planning for staff
  • SEED Champions to be active in hosting events
  • a spirit of generosity, partnership, and justice for people attending missions and Christmas events

Praises and thanks

There is so much to be thankful for. Here are a few praises and thanks from our staff team:
  • we have placed more orders this year than in previous years -- more livelihood for artisan groups!
  • in the last four years we have helped launch more new -- and now independent -- groups through SEED Capital than we have ongoing partners!
  • with our travel schedules, we are especially thankful for a home base in Indianapolis for the Brewer's and SEED administrator Scott Gibbons.
  • we have more invitations to share about SEED than days in the calendar -- and more people stepping forward to be SEED Champions to help make SEED an even larger blessing for livelihood groups!
